When Holly asked me to photograph her wedding, I saw it as more than just a booking. It was a chance to witness and preserve one of life’s most meaningful days and a chance to see what I was truly capable of.
For me, there was a quiet readiness. A curiosity about how I would move through the day, what I would notice, and how I could tell this story in a way that felt honest.
This felt like the first step towards becoming the photographer I am today.
The day began in a soft-lit Airbnb, warm with laughter, and music. The girls were in their element. I expected nerves, but found calm. The bride and her bridesmaids wore matching pink pyjamas and moved around each other with an easy rhythm - getting their hair done in turns, sipping wine, nibbling on scones from Michael Dore’s, and swapping stories.
Holly, in her own graceful routine, applied her makeup in delicate stages over the span of hours. She was serene, composed, luminous. It felt sacred to witness it all, and a privilege to photograph these unfiltered, raw moments of “girlhood” before vows and veils.
The bridesmaids slipped into gowns of striking hot pink, their dresses catching the natural light and glowing with vibrance. Their bouquets echoed the palette, rich pinks wrapped in green foliage. And Holly? She wore a timeless dress that hugged her silhouette like it had been waiting for her all along. Soft off-the-shoulder sleeves, a cascading veil, and silver fern hair clips woven into loose waves. It was simple. Elegant. Unforgettable.
"To witness a moment is one thing. To capture it and give it back, framed in light and memory is a gift I’ll never stop being grateful for. These are the moments I chase."
The church was alive with colour, blues, greens, reds, pinks - a true summer wedding. The priest was warm and light-hearted, delivering blessings with wit that softened the solemnity.
One of the greatest gifts of the day was working alongside Rachel from MoGra Media, who filmed content and brought her own artistic vision to the day. We exchanged ideas, supported one another, and shared in the magic. It reminded me how valuable it is to have creative allies in this space, and how much better we are when we lift each other. You can see her work here.
Shortly after the church ceremony, we took the time to capture moments in the castle grounds. This wasn’t just any wedding. It was the first time I had the opportunity to capture real love as a visual storyteller.
Special thanks to Holly and Adrian for allowing me to capture their special day. Congratulations to you both.
